The events of Cole McGrath leading from the massive explosion that caused his electrify powers to the final showdown with Kessler another super human are full of choices and surprised turns.
You start the game at ground Zero, no idea what and why. But as the game and Coles powers develop, the truth is unearthed into one of the mind bending endings since Assassins Creed 2. As you play and free Empire City from the various gangs that have taken over the city since its lockdown by the government. You discover the Ray Sphere and cause of all the problems in the city. As you play to discover its meaning you work for various people and run errands. The game has a very GTA
feel about it. But there are no drugs of hookers here. It’s about power and lots of it. Cole’s powers are great and only get better as the game goes on. You start with a simple electric shock. But you finish the game with bazooka like bolts and massive shock waves able to dispatch a number of foes at once. Keeping Cole to earth is his girlfriend Trish and best friend Zeke. Both play pivotal roles in keeping Cole sane and on track thou out the game.
The main focus of the game is the choices. You can develop for character Cole as good or bad. These start simple enough, Let the survivors eat with an emergency air drop or scare them all away and have it all to yourself. Not a game changer, but it progresses to. Save your Girlfriend or save 6 doctors. These choices are not just limited to important points of the game. Even how you get someone to open a locked door it used to determine the state of Karma. Talk and persuade the guy or just electrocute him until he opens it. Coles Karma, unlocks certain missions what wouldn’t be open to you if you choice the opposite, But these all tie together. Fight and protect a police station or spearhead the attack. Like with most open world games there are side missions these are the usual “can you collect 5 medi packs please good sire” and de bugging buildings. By doing the side mission frees a certain area of the local gangs and thugs and allows the city to change. The buildings are repaired and look like new again if the good Karma is picked. Also by completing a good side mission locks out the bad side mission. This requires at least two play troughs of the game to get the full enjoyment of the game.

To be honest, it’s well worth it. Not only is the story engaging and enjoyable but it allows you to see the ramifications of your actions if the other choice was made. You may say it’s the games failing, but a lot of choices has no swing on the outcome of the game. “SPOLIER” example when you are given the choice to save Trish or 6 doctors. Trish will die regard less, BUT what she says to you in her final breath made me feel guilty when playing as Bad Cole. SPOLIER END. Exploring is another big thing for Infamous. Not are the three Islands of Empire City great to look at a travel thou. There are plenty to keep you occupied. Main the 350 blast shards spread out throughout the whole city. Every 5 collected increases your maximum energy you can carry, meaning more enemies electrified before needing a recharge. There are also dead drops, recordings of a NSA agent and his dealing with the Ray Sphere before Cole to find and listen too.
With a powerful being only known as “The beast” soon to enter Empire City, Cole is the only person able to stop it. Infamous begins Coles path to become the all-powerful man he is destined to become. Difficult choices will be made and all will shape Cole into the man he NEEDs to become to face his new enemy. Infamous2 saw the beast arrive and the collusion to Coles Story but I can’t spoil it for you as I haven’t played it myself. Either way, Coles beginning is difficult to beat; it may not be the best looking game. But it will engage you to the very end.
