Just recently the animal rights group PETA attacked Assassins Creed 4 for "glorifying whaling," I wonder if they've even seen the game in action? Although AC is not 100% historically accurate nor is it meant to be, Ubisoft bases its stories around real events - trying to give the player a realistic look at the time period to some extent. Note PETA made no mention of robbing, killing people, stealing ships and so on - so are they saying that's okay? or is it left for another loony group to kick Ubisoft in the balls?
Or GTA, the Favourite go-to game to heap blame on for every crime under the sun!
Really though - how many people do we know that run around doing what we do in the virtual world of GTA? Um....... that would be none.
Gaming is an escape from reality, a place we go to experience things we never will in the real world, we don't want a situation where we're met with the annoying, overzealous, censorship driven craziness of day to day life turning up in a game.
If Mr Myagi were to advise us, he would simply say - “Just remember, licence never replace eye, ear, and brain"
