My name is Vito Scalletta and I thought I write my thoughts down in case something, ....I leave....permanently.
Back when I was a kid I grew up in a place where guys had the balls to take what they wanted was somebody, so that’s what I always aimed to do when I was man. When I first started out I thought I was going to be the biggest, baddest Wise guy in the world. As my friend Joe says ‘You work for them you’re set, you f*** with them you die’. That my feeling to so I wanted it bad to be one. My family left Italy for America to start a fresh new life, my Father was a dead bet drunk, always away from the family, and when he was with us he beat our mother up or just passed out drunk in his chair. So at an early age I was the Man in the family. Me and Joe scammed and took what we needed to feed ourselves, and feed my family, but of course in the end I got caught and it was either go to jail or enrol in the Army so what choice did I have, I enrolled. Joe was okay and said he’d look after my Mother and Sister whilst I was away.
The 40’s was in a time of war and I was given the option of jail-time, or serving in the Army to help our Country, of course I chose the Army, and being an Italian I was sent to help out the troops in the Old Country. It was during a mission there I saw the power of being a Family Man, I felt it more when I returned to Empire Bay in America after being shot in battle, and saw my old buddy Joe. Who introduced me to some who were the same, and got me out of the Army.
From then on it was an adventure. I met some old-time guys who like nothing better than get drunk at strip joints, then sing songs of the Old Country in the back of cars with Joe, had shootout with some Micks (it’s pretty fun, simple but fun), went to jail again, but I learnt more in there than I did in school. It was the early 50s now and Empire Bay looked so different, all bright and beautiful, where beforehand it was cold, snowy and rainy. Now out again I was determined not to go back, to get into the big-time, get made and be big enough to never go back to the Slammer. As I rose through the ranks I saw the families were at odds with each other, and that one of them could be responsible for my Father’s death, so all was not rosy with being Made. To clear my head sometimes I drive around Empire Bay, and like the shooting it’s simple and fun (much like Joe hehe), listening to Dean Martin, Louis Primo, The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Peggy Lee, the list of quality acts just go and on. I doubt there was more atmospheric and genuine radio play around.
But a story like mine is full of joy a sorrow; it’s like well scripted story, leaving you wanting more.

the good- The whole atmosphere and feel of everything. How the mood of Empire Bay changes with my story, from the cold winter when I came out of the Army, to the sunny 50’s when I got out of Jail.
- The music. - Although basic, it’s fun shooting and driving around the place. |
the bad- My life, although entertaining, isn’t what you say new.
- Empire Bay could be more interactive. |
